"1962 Chevrolet"
Last update 03/28/2005
This is my 62 Impala. It is the kind of car you wanted when you were in high School! Only those of us that actually did have one like this had a hard time staying out of trouble!
Of coarse I am no longer in High School, so I just go to shows and cruise nights, weather permitting. This car has a 283 CID V8, Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes AM Radio with rear speaker, Lighter and Clock. The original color was Fawn Gold, as you can see it is now "RED". Why a 1962: My first car was a Blue 62 Impala, 283 Standard Transmit ion that I bought for $50. I learned to drive with this car. It was my "field bomber"! Unfortunately I beat this poor car to death, but I have allot of fond memories of that car.
Well, it all started when I wanted to paint the bracket for the Generator, that was too easy. So from there I thought it would be nice to clean up some and paint the water pump.
In order to get at it I decided to remove the fan, fan shroud and the Radiator. What the Heck I should Pull the Power steering unit and degrease as much as I can!
With all those parts out I figured that I should send the radiator out to get re-cored and find a new water pump. Then I took all the miscellaneous parts and glass beaded them to be refinished. From there I started working on the front of the Engine, cleaning and getting it the correct color. The Fuel line had a twist in it so, out I went looking for some Brake line to make a new one
Now with all these parts off I am feeling guilty about the Dash. The car was originally Fawn Gold, not one of my favorite colors and in My humble opinion this body style deserves to be Red!
About 8 hours later I had the Interior all Masked off.
And there you have it! RED
