Portsmouth R. I.

Melville Pond Campground

It is very difficult to let camping season end, so, a hardy N. E. U. group trekked to Portsmouth R.I. to spend the last weekend of October just north of the world famous Newport mansions.

We woke to an incredible sunsrise!

Cool evenings found us huddled near our Aluminum fire

Theme for the weekend, RELAX!

View from Second beach.

Downtown Newport you can visit the
International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum

One of the greatest attractions of the area are the mansions, the Breakers is one of the most popular as well as extremely opulent. No photo's allowed inside so you just have to visit!

The original building was destroyed by fire, the present, was constructed in just over 2 years at a cost, no one knows???

Rose Cliff Mansion
Hollywood has shot several movies here, most notably (to us) was
"The Great Gatsby"!

The history of this mansion is almost hard to believe.

Purchased, deconstructed to make way for a mansion to host incredible summer parties, auctioned for for a fraction of its worth, nearly destroyed by winter water damage and then a rebirth to what is there now.
