The Beginning
The bath flooring was coming up and wet. Pealed
away the linoleum and searched for an outside leak.
No leak from the banding area. The ceiling vent was broken, looks like water got
in over a long period of time and saturated the floor.
No delaminating of the plywood!
After the fan was on for a couple days I found
2 spots that were in need of repair.
This is a 2 part, putty type epoxy, that when mixed, looks like Play Dough.
Once the soft area was removed, there is a solution that looks allot tike white
glue, paint that on the area and let dry.
Work the mixture in the damage affected area and smooth to the height of the
floor.
If you are planning on putting flooring down, wait 2 to 4 hours and sand smooth.
Front Living area
Part of the living area was pealing up as
well.|
We found that there was no floor rot under the linoleum. Nice!
I did find that at some point, someone put a floor leveling compound
down.
That was a set back, as the linoleum came up, with a heat gun, the compound
peeled up with it. Unfortunately under that was TAR. What a mess.... I coated
the floor with a good quality leveling compound to repair the mess.
The fabric is time worn and faded, Curtains are missing.
Quick visit to a local fabric shop and we have supplies to carry on the
restoration.
